Classification methods

1) Classified by chemical composition into two major categories: iron-based wear-resistant hardfacing wires and non-iron-based wear-resistant hardfacing wires. Each category can be further divided into subcategories based on chemical composition characteristics or microstructure. For example, iron-based wear-resistant hardfacing wires include high-chromium alloy hardfacing wires, tungsten carbide hardfacing wires, etc. Non-iron-based wear-resistant hardfacing wires include cobalt-based hardfacing wires and nickel-based hardfacing wires.
2) Classified by wire structure: solid wires and flux-cored (also called tubular) wires.
3) Classified by welding process: gas-shielded welding, submerged arc welding, flame hardfacing, plasma hardfacing, and spraying (welding) wear-resistant hardfacing wires.
